Drawing-Based Cylindrical Filter Assemblies

Custom Stainless Steel Filter Cylinder Manufacturer

Maidong reviews custom stainless steel filter cylinders as complete assemblies: filtration media, support, diameter, length, seam, ends, flow direction and operating duty must work together.

A Filter Cylinder Is More Than Rolled Mesh

The filter medium controls particle passage; the cylindrical body, support and joining details control fit and mechanical stability. This page covers complete stainless steel cylinder assemblies. For wire-media terminology and OEM-focused variants, see wire mesh filter cylinders.

Filtration layer

Square mesh, Dutch weave or another specified metal medium.

Structural support

Perforated, expanded or coarse woven backing where required.

Cylinder geometry

OD/ID, length, roundness, seam and layer orientation.

Equipment interface

Open ends, caps, rings, flanges, collars or drawing features.

Stainless Steel Filter Cylinder Specification Checklist

Use complete assembly data when requesting a quotation; diameter and mesh count alone are not sufficient.

Media and Support Configurations

Unsupported woven mesh can suit appropriate lower-load duties. Supported mesh combines fine media with coarse mesh, perforated sheet or expanded metal. A perforated or expanded cylinder may also act as the primary screen where its opening matches the duty.

For dedicated perforated construction, review perforated filter tubes.

Available Cylinder End and Body Configurations

Open-end cylinder

Simple tubular screen with drawing-defined edges and seam.

Capped element

One or both ends closed by caps or formed mesh ends.

Flanged cylinder

Flange used for mounting, sealing or removal.

Conical or stepped form

Drawing-based geometry for equipment-specific interfaces.

Material and Filtration Selection

304, 316 and 316L are common stainless steel enquiries, subject to process compatibility. Review the 304 vs 316 guide.

For square mesh, specify mesh count and wire diameter together. For Dutch weave or multilayer media, provide construction-specific pore or retention data. The filtration mesh page explains the main media choices.

Typical Industrial Uses

Liquid process filtration

Cylinder assemblies used where the specified media and housing suit the liquid duty.

Gas and air screening

Metal screens reviewed for particle, temperature and pressure conditions.

Equipment protection

Upstream screens for passages, valves, pumps or nozzles.

Separation and straining

Cylindrical screens used where geometry and flow suit the process.

How to Prepare a Custom Filter Cylinder RFQ

1. Send the drawing

Include dimensions, tolerances, ends and equipment interface.

2. Define the media

State weave, aperture/rating, alloy and layer sequence.

3. Define support

Show support side, pattern, thickness and flow direction.

4. Define joining

Specify seam, caps, rings, flanges and acceptable method.

5. Add process data

Provide medium, temperature, pressure, cleaning and quantity.

Choose Cylinder or Tube Terminology by the Drawing

Industrial buyers use cylinder and tube interchangeably, but the drawing should control the quotation. For the broader tube family, see stainless steel filter tubes. For navigation product coverage, see mesh cylinders.

Stainless Steel Filter Cylinder FAQ

It is a cylindrical screening or filtration component made from woven mesh, perforated metal, expanded metal or a supported combination. The media, support, seam and ends must be specified as one assembly.

Provide OD or ID as applicable, length, media construction, mesh count and wire diameter or aperture, support, seam, end geometry, tolerances, flow direction, operating conditions and quantity.

Support should be reviewed when fine media may deform during pressure loading, cleaning, installation or handling. State which side sees the higher pressure and how the layers are joined.

Perforated and expanded metal can act as the screening body or as support for finer mesh, subject to the hole/opening pattern, thickness, open area and mechanical duty.

304, 316 and 316L are common enquiries. Final selection must consider the actual fluid, temperature, cleaning chemistry and corrosion conditions.

Drawing-based rings, caps, flanges, collars, handles and connection features can be reviewed. Include all interface dimensions, tolerances and joining requirements.
