Drawing-Based Cylindrical Filter Components

Custom Wire Mesh Filter Cylinder Manufacturer

Maidong reviews custom wire mesh filter cylinder enquiries from drawings and process requirements. Define the filtration media, support structure, diameter, length, seam, end connection, flow direction and operating conditions before comparing quotations.

A Filter Cylinder Is a Complete Assembly—not Just Rolled Mesh

A useful specification connects the filter medium to the mechanical cylinder. Fine woven mesh may require coarse mesh, expanded metal or perforated support. The seam and ends must fit the equipment and withstand the stated handling, pressure and cleaning duty.

For the navigation product range, see mesh cylinders. This page focuses specifically on OEM and drawing-based procurement. When woven wire cloth is the primary retention medium, use the dedicated woven wire mesh filter cylinder page.

Filter media

Square mesh, Dutch weave or another specified screen.

Support

Perforated, expanded or coarse woven backing where required.

Cylinder body

Diameter, length, roundness, seam and layer orientation.

End interface

Open ends, rings, caps, flanges, collars or drawing features.

Wire Mesh Filter Cylinder Specification Checklist

Use the complete assembly data when requesting a quotation; a request containing only diameter and mesh count is incomplete.

Media and Support Configurations

Unsupported woven mesh may suit lower-load duties where the selected wire geometry is sufficiently stable. Supported mesh combines fine media with coarse mesh or a perforated body. Perforated cylinders can also serve as screens or structural supports depending on hole size and duty.

For dedicated perforated construction, review perforated filter tubes.

Available Cylinder Configurations

Open-end cylinder

Simple tubular screen with drawing-defined edges and seam.

Capped element

One or both ends closed with a cap or formed mesh end.

Flanged cylinder

Flange provides mounting, sealing or removal interface.

Handled basket style

Handle and rim added where lifting or removal is required.

Material and Filtration Selection

Common enquiries use 304, 316 or 316L stainless steel, subject to process compatibility. See the 304 vs 316 guide.

For square woven media, specify mesh count and wire diameter together. Use the mesh-to-micron calculator only as a square-opening reference. Dutch weave requires construction-specific rating data.

How to Prepare an OEM Filter Cylinder RFQ

1. Send the drawing

Include dimensions, tolerances, ends and interface.

2. Define the media

State weave, aperture/rating, alloy and layers.

3. Define support

Show support side, pattern, thickness and flow direction.

4. Define joining

Specify seam, caps, rings, flanges and acceptable method.

5. Add process data

Provide medium, temperature, pressure, cleaning and quantity.

Wire Mesh Filter Cylinder FAQ

It is a cylindrical filter component made from woven mesh, perforated metal, expanded metal or a supported combination. The media, support, seam and end details determine how it performs and fits the equipment.

Provide outside and inside diameter as applicable, length, media construction, mesh count and wire diameter or aperture, support, seam, end geometry, flow direction, tolerances, operating conditions and quantity.

Support should be reviewed when fine mesh may deform under differential pressure, cleaning, handling or installation. State which side faces the higher pressure and how the layers are joined.

Longitudinal overlap, butt, folded or welded seam concepts may be reviewed from the material and drawing. The acceptable seam must match leakage, strength, cleanliness and dimensional requirements.

Drawing-based end rings, flanges, caps, collars, handles and connection features can be reviewed. Provide interface dimensions, tolerances and joining requirements.

For square mesh, state mesh count with wire diameter or aperture. For Dutch weave or multilayer media, provide construction-specific pore or retention data and its test basis.
