Equipment-Ready Cylindrical Filter

Custom Perforated Filter Cylinder

A custom perforated filter cylinder is an equipment-ready perforated metal cylinder assembly combining a rigid punched body with the required filtration layer, seam and interface. Specify the hole pattern, filter media, support direction, diameter, length, end caps, flange or fitting and operating duty together.

Perforated Filter Cylinder Functions

The cylinder is specified as a finished filter assembly rather than only a rolled perforated shell.

Complete filter element

Perforated body, filtration media and end hardware supplied as one drawing-controlled assembly.

Fine-media support

Rigid cylinder supports woven mesh against the specified differential-pressure direction.

Coarse straining

Perforated holes can retain larger debris when fine media is not required.

Equipment interface

Flange, cap, thread, collar, handle or sealing face matches the receiving housing.

Perforated Filter Cylinder Specification Table

A cylinder diameter and micron value are not a complete specification. Send the support body, filtration media, layer order and equipment interfaces together.

RFQ fieldWhat to specifyWhy it matters
Perforated bodyMaterial, thickness, hole size, pitch, pattern and marginsControls rigidity, coarse opening and available support area
Filter mediaWeave/pore structure, mesh and wire or rating/test basisDefines the actual fine-retention function
Cylinder geometryOD, ID, total and active length, roundness and tolerancesControls equipment fit and usable filtration area

Perforated Body: Hole Pattern and Structural Role

The perforated cylinder may act as the coarse screen or as a support shell beneath finer media. Specify hole shape, clear size, pitch, arrangement, sheet thickness, unperforated margins and reinforcing rings. Use the perforated-metal open-area calculator only for geometric comparison; finished flow also depends on media, margins, seams and blocked area.

If you need only a formed support-core component without the complete filter assembly, use the custom perforated filter tube page. This cylinder page is reserved for equipment-ready filter elements.

Filter Media and Layer Configurations

Perforated-only cylinder

Coarse screening where the punched opening is the specified retention limit.

Perforated + woven mesh

Rigid support combined with square mesh or Dutch weave for finer filtration.

Multilayer cylinder

Fine media plus drainage/support layers arranged around the actual flow direction.

Define the retention layer separately

For square mesh, state mesh count with wire diameter or aperture. Dense woven constructions need their specific pore or rating basis. Review stainless steel mesh for filtration before assigning the media layer.

Do not treat perforated support-hole diameter as the micron rating of the complete element when finer mesh is present.

Ends, Connections and Sealing Interfaces

  • Open or closed end caps
  • Flat or formed mounting flange
  • Threaded, sanitary or drawing-specific connection
  • Locating shoulder, handle or removal feature
  • Critical sealing face and gasket seat
  • Weld seam and potential bypass-path control

Perforated Filter Cylinder RFQ Workflow

1. Define the duty

State medium, target contaminant, flow direction and hydraulic load.

2. Specify perforation

Give material, thickness, hole size, pitch, pattern and margins.

3. Define fine media

List weave, mesh/pore data, rating basis and layer order.

4. Detail the cylinder

Add OD/ID, length, seam, ends, flange, seals and tolerances.

5. Complete the RFQ

Attach drawing, quantity, cleaning conditions and required acceptance checks.

Perforated Filter Cylinder FAQ

It is a finished cylindrical filter element built around a perforated metal body and completed with the required filtration layer, seam, end caps, flange, fitting or other equipment interface. The perforated body may provide coarse retention or structural support for finer media.

In this product structure, cylinder refers to the complete equipment-ready filter assembly, including media and end hardware. The perforated filter tube page focuses on the formed perforated tube or support-core component supplied from a drawing.

Usually round or slotted perforations provide coarse screening or support. For finer retention, specify a woven mesh, Dutch weave or another porous layer separately, including its construction and rating basis.

Provide cylinder OD and ID where critical, overall and active length, perforated sheet thickness, hole size and pitch, unperforated margins, seam, end caps, flange or fitting dimensions, sealing faces and tolerances.

They determine whether support belongs inside or outside the fine media and the direction of mechanical loading. Include normal, maximum and any reverse-flow or cleaning condition.

Drawing-based cylinders can be reviewed with flanges, collars, threaded fittings, open or closed ends, handles and locating features. Critical interfaces and sealing details should be dimensioned.
